FT WORTH, Tex., February 3, 2025 - The Bible intimidates far too many Americans. The top two reasons Christians consistently cite for not reading their Bibles more often are lack of time and lack of confidence to understand it. Bible teacher Kathy Howard can’t do much about our busy culture, but she is equipping many Christians with the tools they need to confidently open God’s Word. In addition to teaching in-person and online workshops, Howard impacts many through her Deep Rooted devotional series.
Howard’s newest volume, Deep Rooted: Growing through the Gospel of John, takes the reader on an exciting 50-day journey through the fourth Gospel. John emphasizes personal experience with Jesus. “We see the multiplying effect of just one witness. The global spread of faith that would come did not depend on tracts, special tactics, or memorized presentations. Instead, the Holy Spirit fueled eyewitness testimony and personal invitation. There He is. Come and see. We found him. Let me introduce you to Jesus. (Deep Rooted John, pg. 30).”
Like the rest of the Deep Rooted series, John is formatted around Howard’s simple, but solid 4R Inductive Bible study method. John equips the reader with solid Bible study tools and helps her learn how to interact with and respond to Scripture, not simply read it. Deep Rooted: Growing through the Gospel of John is a devotional with meat on its bones.
Recent surveys reveal a Bible reading dilemma. According to the 2024 State of the Bible report by the American Bible Society, 53% of Americans want to read the Bible more often. Yet a 2020 survey by LifeWay Research shows that 57% of Protestant churchgoers struggle to understand the Bible on their own. In other words, Christians want to read their Bibles more, but feel ill-equipped to try. Kathy Howard constantly works to solve that problem. She often says, “Bible study doesn’t have to be hard. Christians just need to be equipped with the right tools.”
Deep Rooted: Growing through the Gospel of John (ISBN: 978-1962705240, $16.99; 246 pages, Christian Devotionals) from Bold Vision Books, is available on Amazon.
